Event Planner / Inside Sales

Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States Full-time


Builds business by identifying and selling prospects and maintaining relationships with clients. Support the Sales Director and other staff through all aspects of coordinating travel and event attendance for all Demme Learning products throughout all markets in the United States.



  • Works from our Lititz, PA headquarters (near Lancaster Airport)
  • Scheduled hours will normally be Mon-Fri 8 hours/day between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm
  • Periodic weekends with overnight travel to conferences and trade shows between March and August



  • Base salary between $40,000 - $60,000 annually

Company and product knowledge

  • Become knowledgeable of company history, mission, vision, and products
  • Maintain knowledge as products are revised and/or new products are introduced

Contact, sell, and close

  • Regularly interact with customers and prospective customers to inspire interest, demonstrate products and close sales
  • Search for and identify additional prospecting opportunities through associations, networking, daisy chain selling etc.
  • Daily follow up with new sales opportunities in funnel to advance the sale
  • Assist with walk-in customers as needed

Nurture relationships

  • Contact customers to ensure satisfactory purchase experience; troubleshoot problems, and share information with Director of Sales
  • Upsell additional products
  • Ask for referrals

Coordination and Organization

  • Research events based on parameters determined by the Sales Director
  • Register for approved events through direct communication with event vendors
  • Coordinate event specifics with event vendors
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for all levels of staff within parameters approved by requesting manager
  • Coordinate travel and communicate schedules with speakers and company representatives as directed by the Sales Director.
  • Compile and update a list of required items needed to attend events as directed by Sales and Marketing Managers
  • Provide Fulfillment Manager with required items, dates, and times of arrival
  • Provide all necessary event information to Sales Liaisons and Sales Director prior to events
  • Compile data and create reports for planning and attending events based on information provided by Sales Director
  • Compile end of event reporting data
  • Provide necessary data to Accounting to ensure sales tax percentages are calculated correctly
  • Collaborate with Marketing Coordinator to ensure Fair kit inventory levels to ensure presentable materials are on hand for all scheduled fairs, using spreadsheet and other tracking tools as required
  • Collaborate with Fulfillment/Even Shipper to create Fair kit shipping schedule and to ensure necessary materials are delivered on time in the most economical and efficient manner
  • Fair shipment tracking numbers, exceptions, pick-up and drop-off locations and inventory lists to Fair Liaisons no later than two days prior to relevant fair

Wholesale Coordination

  • Coordinate, plan and execute wholesale operations as per company procedures
  • Input and monitor all wholesale orders from start to finish
  • Work with warehouse team to coordinate processing and delivery activities
  • Prepare and maintain necessary wholesale documentations for management
  • Address wholesale customer questions and issues
  • Regularly review Wholesale websites to ensure that our products are marketed accurately and that pricing standards are met
  • Provide regular update reports to Director of Sales on Wholesaler activities, pricing/marketing discrepancies, order updates etc.


  • Input and track all data relevant to events as directed using the events master list
  • Prepare summarized information on events master list as directed from Sales Director
  • Receive confirmations and then update the event information documents accordingly

Attending Trade Shows/Conferences

  • Serves the organization by utilizing all company techniques in delivering our brand message and content directly to the customer by attending trade shows/conferences as determined by the business need
  • Serve as event liaison as outlined by liaison processes and procedures when assigned

Job expectations

  • Keep CRM/Sales funnel updated
  • Territory Planning-This is done for entire year and revisited monthly

  • High School diploma, homeschool preferred



  • Highly effective interpersonal skills
  • Effective presentation skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel multiple weekends (Thursday – Sunday) during March through August
  • Proficiency in MS Office products 



  • 1 years’ sales experience, preferably in educational sales or similar
  • History of effectively handling retail transactions through point of sale systems



  • Availability during non-scheduled hours to help when travel or shipping challenges occur
  • Sitting for long periods of time
  • Extensive typing on QWERTY style keyboard
  • Extensive viewing of lighted computer monitor
  • Reaching and bending
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
